Oracle/Sun
Profile
On January 27, 2010, Oracle announced it finalized its acquisition of Sun. This combination transforms the IT industry. With the addition of servers, storage, SPARC processors, the Solaris operating system, Java, and the MySQL database to Oracle's portfolio of database, middleware, and business applications, we plan to engineer and deliver open and integrated systems—from applications to disk—where all the pieces fit and work together out of the box. Each layer of the stack will be architected to improve performance, leverage innovation and centralize management so that IT will be more predictable, more supportable, and more secure.
Geek Labs Description
In the Lab, learn about the Exadata Database Machine Version 2, made by Sun and Oracle.
Breakout Session(s)
The Sun Oracle Database Machine V2
The Sun Oracle Exadata Database Machine Version 2 is the world’s fastest machine for both data warehousing and online transaction processing (OLTP). It has 7X the response time and 25% more throughput than IBM’s fastest server. Exadata is a complete package of software, servers, storage and networking for all data management. At its heart is Oracle's new Sun FlashFire technology to cache 'hot' data for dramatically improved transaction response times and throughput. Customers can consolidate all their database applications, store up to ten times more data, search data up to ten times faster, and make faster business decisions in real time without making changes to applications.
